A total of 8.6 tons of various drugs, along with 1,022 liters of liquid methamphetamine, were incinerated this Thursday at the Military Training Center of the 28th Infantry Battalion of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena).

The narcotics came from seizures carried out by authorities at the three levels of government in municipalities along the coastal region of Baja California, mainly in Tijuana.

Teófila González, delegate of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) in Baja California, explained that the destroyed substances included 6.2 tons of methamphetamine, 1.4 tons of marijuana, and 460 kilograms of cocaine.

Various quantities of mescaline, opium, and other substances seized during different operations were also incinerated. These seizures are part of actions carried out by authorities at the three levels of government to combat drug trafficking in the state.

The drugs were estimated to have a value of one trillion pesos in Mexico. According to authorities, their value could triple once the substances reached the United States market.

Before the incineration, specialized FGR personnel collected samples and conducted a demonstration using chemical reagents to confirm the types of substances that were to be destroyed.

Representatives from various institutions supervised the procedure and verified the destruction of the narcotics. The disposal was carried out in accordance with the protocols established by authorities for handling and destroying these types of substances.
