Following the official close of the 2026 Easter holiday period, the Baja California State Government, through the State Tourism Secretariat (Secture), reported positive results in tourism activity. This was attributed to increased visitor traffic in key destinations and the strengthening of the state’s tourism strategy, resulting in a holiday season with high regional and national participation.
During the holiday period, various destinations in Baja California experienced a significant influx of visitors, particularly in beach areas such as San Felipe, Playas de Rosarito, and Ensenada, as well as in the Valle de Guadalupe. The diverse food and wine offerings and experiences maintained a steady flow of tourists, generating economic activity throughout the state.
The beaches attracted an estimated 190,000 visitors, solidifying their position as one of the main attractions of the season. Hotel occupancy showed outstanding results in the main destinations, reaching levels close to 90% in San Felipe, 82% in Playas de Rosarito, and 62% in the Valle de Guadalupe on Saturday, April 4th, driven by their culinary, wine, and tourist experience offerings.
According to data from the State Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC), restaurant activity remained stable during the week and surged over the weekend, with sales increases of up to 25%. This reflected the positive impact of the season on the tourism value chain and its contribution to economic activity in the most popular destinations.
As part of the 2026 Easter Holiday Operation, the Baja California Tourism Secretariat set up seven information booths at strategic locations throughout the state, staffed by 30 people. These booths provided direct assistance to visitors at high-traffic areas such as the PedEast border crossing in Tijuana, the Bosque de la Ciudad (City Forest) in Mexicali, San Felipe, Ensenada, Tecate, Playas de Rosarito, and San Quintín.
During the period from April 2nd to 5th, these booths served 2,490 people, representing a 75.97% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This demonstrates a greater demand for tourist information and increased visitor activity in the state.
Regarding cruise ship activity, the Port of Ensenada received 11 arrivals during this period, positioning itself as the third busiest port in Mexico for this segment. Additionally, a gross increase of three arrivals was recorded compared to the same period in 2025, reflecting the dynamism and consolidation of the destination within the country’s cruise industry.
The Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Ángel Badiola Montaño, emphasized that these results reflect the confidence of visitors, as well as the strength of the coordinated work between the State Government, the tourism sector, and productive organizations. Their joint efforts have allowed for greater capacity to serve, improved the experience of those who visit the state, and strengthened the dynamism of tourism activity in the various regions of the state.
