With the goal of motivating young people in Baja California to consider a career in law enforcement as a professional training and public service option, the state’s Business Coordinating Councils announced the launch of the “Choose to Serve” campaign, focused on promoting individuals prepared to join the security forces.
Julio Salinas López, president of the Ensenada Business Coordinating Council (CCEE), stated that the campaign seeks to offer the community a real training alternative through the Institute of Prevention Studies and Interdisciplinary Training, which focuses on training people interested in joining the security forces.
He indicated that the outreach process will begin at the State Academy located in Tecate, where information about the police career and admission requirements will be presented.

Institutional Effort
He explained that the organized business sector is participating in this strategy as part of an institutional effort to contribute to strengthening the social fabric in Baja California.
He added that the campaign is not limited to a single activity, but rather is part of an ongoing process of community engagement.
The goal is to motivate more young people to consider police training as a career path and a way to serve the community.
Recently, Edgar Hernández González, president of the Ensenada Citizens’ Committee for Public Safety (CCSPE), acknowledged that the municipal police force is far from having the necessary number of officers to cover the Ensenada area. According to a study conducted by México Evalúa, the Ensenada police force is short 670 officers.
“We need to see how many officers have left due to retirement. I don’t have the exact figure, but every time the Police Career Commission meets, we authorize the retirement of a certain number of officers, which I believe is roughly equal to the number of new recruits. In other words, we’re not growing; we’re replacing those who are leaving.”
