What’s really driving tourists away from Tijuana isn’t insecurity, it’s the Municipal Police themselves.
This was declared by Olivaldo Paz Gómez, president of the National Chamber of Commerce (CANACO) Tijuana.
Tourists, mainly from Southern California, are being detained and harassed simply for having Arizona license plates, tinted windows, or driving rental cars.
These practices leave a terrible impression, and the damage multiplies:
For every tourist who experiences this, dozens more receive warnings not to return.
The result is clear: fewer visitors, less economic activity, and a city shooting itself in the foot. If this isn’t stopped, the blow to tourism will continue to worsen.
And it’s true, it’s becoming increasingly common to see tourists from across the border advising each other not to come or to be wary of the Tijuana police—this cancer that seems to have no end. 🐀🐀🐀, what do you think?
