More than ten thousand people gathered Friday night at the Arturo C. Nahl Stadium to support Milena Quiroga Romero at the “In La Paz, We Deliver” community event, which became a demonstration of popular support, South Baja Californian identity, and confidence in a political project that has marked a turning point for the capital of Baja California Sur (BCS).

The stadium was filled with families, young people, women, workers, community leaders, and citizens from all five municipalities of Baja California Sur, who came to support the now-former mayor at a moment that represented the end of one phase of her administration and the beginning of a new path of hope.

“Tonight I didn’t come to say goodbye. I came to thank you,” Milena said as she began her remarks, prompting one of the first ovations of the evening.

During her speech, she recalled that some years ago she made a commitment to govern with honesty, listen to the people, and keep her word, a conviction that, she affirmed, has translated into action.

“Because trust isn’t earned with speeches. Trust is earned with actions. And today we are here demonstrating that when promises are made with heart and governance is based on the people, results follow,” she stated.

One of the most moving moments occurred when she affirmed: “Today we can proudly say that, in La Paz, the word of the people of La Paz is kept.”

The phrase was echoed by thousands of voices from the stands and the field, becoming one of the central messages of the event.

Milena Quiroga reviewed the changes implemented during her administration, highlighting actions to guarantee access to water, the recovery of public spaces, the improvement of the municipal police force, the enhancement of mobility, and the modernization of the government.

She maintained that the transformation of La Paz didn’t begin from behind a desk, but rather by walking through neighborhoods, listening to the people, and addressing long-standing problems with a long-term vision.

“Before, they told us that honesty was a weakness. Today we demonstrate that honesty is a government’s greatest strength,” she stated.

The mayor, currently on leave, also defended the identity of Baja California Sur and the state’s natural heritage, asserting that development cannot take precedence over the resources that belong to future generations.

“I maintain this, and I will always maintain it: the Sierra de la Laguna is not to be touched, the Sierra de la Laguna must be defended. It is our water, our air, and our life,” she declared amidst applause.

In one of the most significant messages of the evening, Milena spoke about her decision to request a leave of absence from the Mayor’s office and made it clear that her commitment to the citizens remains.

“Today I close this chapter with the peace of mind of having fulfilled my duties, but also with the conviction that there is still much to be done,” she noted.

And then she posed a question that reignited the stadium’s enthusiasm:

“If together we transformed La Paz… why not transform all of Baja California Sur?”

The phrase sparked a prolonged ovation and set the tone for a night filled with enthusiasm and anticipation for the future.

Milena Quiroga affirmed that she would not be swayed by attacks or smear campaigns and reiterated that she would continue to defend the principles of the Fourth Transformation with honesty, approachability, and perseverance.

“I will continue building in unity with everyone who wants a state with well-being, justice, and opportunities. You have my word; I will not let you down,” she declared.

The “In La Paz, We Deliver” event concluded amid cheers, applause, and a chant that echoed throughout the stadium:

Because in Baja California Sur, a promise has value.

Because the people know who keeps their word.

And because, as demonstrated tonight, a La Paz native’s word is a promise.
