Since the end of 2025, the restaurant sector has noticed a considerable drop in the tourist flow, which has implied not only a drop in sales but also the closure of some establishments.
The coordinator of the Madrugadores de Cabo San Lucas Group and also a businessman in the restaurant sector, Seth Vazquez, explained that in recent meetings with the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC) they have been given an overview of what is experienced in the municipality.
SETH VÁZQUEZ, COORDINATOR OF THE CABO SAN LUCAS EARLY BIRD GROUP
“Just this year, there were 20 restaurants that closed, 16 percent of the restaurants are closing, and I am talking about grut grease, habaneros, restaurants established for years with many employees, which were lost precisely because of the drop in tourism, the rise in costs, and above all because of the low influx of tourism.”
He pointed out that the drop in tourism in the centers of both San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, where a number of restaurants are concentrated; It has also been attributed to the destination’s all-inclusive hotel sector, where tourists no longer have the need to leave the properties.

“Terrible too, we have had a quite considerable drop before we were talking about 30 percent, I think that now it is more than 50 percent especially at night, the center is very dark and many of the tourists feel unsafe when going out to the streets, there is a little more movement during the day and we are trying to take advantage of that flow of the day”
The businessman said that meetings have been held with the restaurant sector to seek to attract visitors to the tourist centers again.
