In 2025, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography in the municipality of Los Cabos, the perception of insecurity of the population increased by around 10%.

However, they do not consider that security is 100 percent a determining factor, so this year the tourist flow can decrease, not only in Los Cabos but for all of Baja California Sur.

“The reasons why the demand of Americans to the Mexican Republic has decreased go beyond the issue of insecurity, because in specific destinations such as Tulum, it was noted that insecurity made a difference, and there were warnings and information among commercial partners to avoid sending tourism in this area; we have not been immersed in it.”

Salicrup recalled that for almost 20 years, there has been a close relationship with U.S. agencies for security issues, and currently work is being done with the Embassy of Tijuana, which qualifies security in the town as positive.

He acknowledged that if there has been a decrease in certain markets that were already deeply rooted in the last year, it nevertheless concerns even more of the world’s political and social panorama.

“Is the offer distracted to other parts of the world instead of being focused on their traditional vacations? There is definitely more demand for other parts of the Republic and in American tourism within Canada and the United States.”
