With the slogan “Welcome to Baja California,” Baja California Secretary of Tourism Miguel Aguiñiga Rodríguez launched the 2025 Holy Week operation this Thursday, April 3, giving the starting signal near Avenida Revolución in Tijuana, with the participation of agencies from all three levels of government.
According to Aguiñiga Rodríguez, more than 330,000 visitors are expected to arrive in the state, representing an increase of almost 2.5 percentage points compared to the previous year, 2024.
“With this operation, which began during the Spring Break season, we took into account the arrival of the US market a few weeks ago. We began coordinating the three levels of government so that, in the tourism sector, especially on the roads, we can double security measures with each level to address any situation that may arise due to visitors,” he stated.
The operation will run until May 5th, coinciding with the Tianguis Turístico (Tourist Market), which begins on April 25th and will attract visitors of more than 25 nationalities.
Aguiñiga Rodríguez believes that San Felipe will be the municipality that will receive the most tourist traffic due to the SCORE 250 race, and therefore estimates a hotel occupancy rate of almost 90%.
Therefore, security will be reinforced at tourist spots, primarily at border crossings, as well as on the Ensenada boardwalk, the San Felipe boardwalk, and the Valle de Guadalupe, where assistance centers will be located. Assistance centers will also be set up at the Baja California Center and in downtown Tijuana.
Although he did not specify how many units from the various agencies will be deployed, members of the Municipal Police, the Purple Squadron, the Mexican Army, the National Guard, the Red Cross, the Fire Department, Civil Protection, the Navy, and the Sustainable Mobility Institute participated in the kickoff parade.
Valeria De la Torre, Red Cross Tijuana Emergency Coordinator, noted that during this season, incidents decrease slightly, but the types of emergencies change, as services are increased in the coastal zone and on the highways. Therefore, the Red Cross will be present in these areas, as well as at major tourist spots and events.
Aguiñiga Rodríguez noted that assistance will be available in six offices, five mobile units, and an information center throughout the state, with hours of operation from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Likewise, for those traveling by road, the 078 hotline will be open to guide domestic and international tourists, providing information, assistance, and emergency roadside assistance through the Ángeles Verdes program, which will operate with more than 15 patrol cars.
In addition, the Tourism Assistance Directorate will provide assistance and follow up on complaints through the number (664) 624 20 20. Additionally, through the “Be a tourist in your Baja California” program, visitors will be able to access promotions and discounts by registering for free at seturistabc.com
