Rosarito, B.C.- The ferry from Ensenada to San Diego could be operating no later than June, announced the Secretary of the Economy, Kurt Honold, since the meetings between authorities from both countries are well advanced.
He said that the costs are still not very defined, but they could be in the range of 500 pesos.
He added that the one who is leading the project is the Secretary of the Navy of Mexico and the Secretary of Economy is coordinating the efforts with the port of San Diego, CBP, Foreign Relations of Mexico, and the US Department of State, so that everything is square.
He added that the ferry has to comply with all environmental aspects and all the documentation for the ship purchased in Vancouver, Canada is already being reviewed, which is still in that country, but it is not yet known when it will arrive in Mexico.
He explained that this transport is like a cruise and it is not required to have more than the authorization by both countries, so that it can cross carrying passengers and in the future, cars.
He stated that the ferry has a capacity for 300 people and was purchased by Azteca Ferrys, a Mexican company.
