Despite the fact that the tourism sector is currently devastated, and employment in destinations such as Cancun, the Riviera Maya and Puerto Vallarta itself is just over 0%, hopes for a speedy recovery show strength for Mexico.

Playa del Carmen

Since, according to a survey of 2,000 regular travelers registered by the tour operator Overseas Leisure Group in the United States, between April 20 and 22, up to 72% of them responded that they were already planning a vacation, 45% will their trip outside the United States, and 32% would do it this summer.

Also, 72% would make their transfer by plane, and 42% would book their hotel right now if the section was free of risks, such as deposits or cancellation penalties.

First reservations

Although Easter and Easter reservations were 100% canceled and the season was lost, estimates from the country’s hotel chambers report that the sector will begin to receive tourism this summer, in June.

The trend follows this forecast after the Los Cabos Hotel Association (AHLC) revealed that the first tourist reservations for next June and July are already registered, giving encouragement to entrepreneurs and workers in the tourism industry.

If the situation of the pandemic continues with the predictive models, where in May passes its contagion curve falls, a gradual trend of hotel occupancy is expected to increase for this summer, which is shared by the international destinations of Mexico.

On the other hand, there is a high expectation that the domestic tourist market lifted many of the country’s destinations almost immediately, as soon as mobility restrictions are lifted due to the health contingency.

The Federal Secretary of Tourism has revealed that it will carry out a strategy to promote the country’s destinations within the national territory, and thus motivate domestic travel to help the recovery of the tourist economy.
