No young Texas spring breakers were infected with coronavirus in Los Cabos
It was revealed by several US media that some spring breakers had been infected with COVID-19 while vacationing in Los Cabos.
The information that came out from Texas authorities reads as follows:
28 University of Texas Austin spring breakers tested positive for coronavirus following a spring break trip to Mexico, Austin public health officials said on Tuesday.
A group of 70 young adults traveled together on a chartered plane to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, about a week and a half ago, the Austin Public Health Department said in a statement. Now, many have COVID-19, the disease associated with coronavirus, and “dozens more are under public health investigation.”
City officials said that four of the confirmed cases showed no symptoms and that they have launched an investigation into the entire cluster.
The Los Cabos Tourism Trust has answered the following:
Regarding the information that is circulating about a group of spring breakers who vacationed in Los Cabos and tested positive for COVID-19, we would like to point out that the young people left the resort on March 11, 2020. Therefore, 20 days after their return to Austin, Texas, the incubation period established by the World Health Organization (WHO) has already been exceeded.
On the other hand, we have confirmed that none of the staff, who work at the resort where the young people stayed, have presented any symptoms related to COVID-19. In this way, we reiterate our commitment to ensure the general wellness and we will monitor the situation in particular.
