During the month of September, the General Secretariat of Government, together with the municipalities of Mexicali and San Felipe, are launching the Soy México (I Am Mexico) campaign so that children of Mexican parents born in the United States can obtain dual nationality and, thereby, have secure access to education, healthcare, and other rights in our country, without losing the rights they are entitled to in the U.S.
Alfredo Álvarez Cárdenas, Secretary General of Government, emphasized that the campaign is designed to make life easier for binational families: “When a child receives their Mexican certificate, they gain a present and a future. We’re not just talking about a document; we’re talking about legal certainty and real opportunities on both sides of the border.”
The director of the Civil Registry, Elizabeth Márquez Saavedra, announced that throughout September, the process will have a 50% discount in both Mexicali and San Felipe and invited families to visit the registry offices.
To complete the process, you must present a copy of the minor’s American birth certificate, CURP (National Identity Document), and a valid official identification document from the Mexican father, mother, or guardian. With this documentation, the process is handled directly at the state and municipal Civil Registry offices, with the support of the Mexicali and San Felipe City Councils.
The state government, led by Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, invites families to participate and take advantage of the benefit, valid until September 30, reaffirming that the right to identity is the gateway to a better future.
