Thanks to this preference, the approximately 25 thousand jobs that were lost due to the pandemic little by little began to recover
Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- On July 1, the economy in Mazatlán was reactivated, after remaining in recession for more than three months due to the damage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, however, Mazatlán It has positioned itself as one of the most important tourist ports in Mexico due to the implementation of safe sanitary strategies by both government entities and the actions of citizens.
The Federal Tourism Secretariat indicated that Mazatlán is the most visited beach destination by national and foreign tourists since the tourist reactivation.
Thanks to this preference, the approximately 25 thousand jobs that were lost, little by little began to recover.
The reactivation gradually consisted of opening hotels, implementation of sanitary measures in restaurants, nightclubs, and other establishments that were closed and considered non-essential, but now they return to receive customers in the ‘New Normal’ with strict prevention protocols to avoid the spread and the contagion of covid-19.
In the reopening event, the municipal president of Mazatlán, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, stressed that they would be aware and tolerant of business transactions, and establishments that did not comply with the conditioned guidelines to let them work again would be closed again.
However, this has not happened due to the constancy that the authorities have had in the supervision carried out by different municipal agencies, organized and directed by the Operative Networks, which was created to enforce the rules that were implemented as a condition, and that in turn, businessmen in the tourism industry have not ceased to respect the regulations.
One of the sectors hardest hit by this commercial pause were restaurants, which although they did not close in their entirety, their demand was significantly reduced, as they were allowed to work in the ‘order and delivery’ system and working only 20 percent of the approximately 130 stores affiliated to the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Food and Spice Industry.
Mazatlán has recovered gradually and at a moderate speed, where a security protocol has also been seen on its beaches to avoid crowds of people, as has been the beach traffic light that the Municipal Government implemented to maintain order and control with visitors.
According to statements by the mayor of Mazatlán, the same President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, congratulated the Mazatlan authorities for having a port with good acceptance and for being the most visited.
